Curtis Mayfield Sang 🎶Just Be Thankful🎶 – Releasing Jealousy!

🎶Though you may not drive a great big Cadillac. Gangsta whitewalls TV antennas in the back. You may not have a car at all. But remember brothers and sisters. You can still stand tall. Just be thankful for what you’ve got.🎶 In “Diamond in the Back”, Curtis Mayfield so eloquently and smoothly preached about being cool in your own skin. Releasing jealously and shame by having self-worth. (Ole school grooving at its finest. https://youtu.be/ZVANQheoRUw)

Jealously! Humph… The reality is jealously is a normal feeling, but what you do with it is, where it can get you in trouble. First, avoid allowing the Ego to run the show. This will avoid the next day of potentially awaking with regret, guilt, and embarrassment after your previous day of showing out with having an out of body profanity filled rant or the flip side of a silent passive aggressive disposition. (Been there. Done that.) Both leaving others (and you) wondering “Who is that?” Second, never beat yourself up when feeling jealous or envious of another. What I mean is not allowing yourself to be consumed with feelings of lack or shame as a result of what someone else has or is doing.

Some years back, I was hanging hard with someone I love and care about. Not a lover, but a wonderful connection of love, respect, commonality, fun, and friendship. Then one day they met someone and started dating. Our hang out time, which could be several times a week, dwindled. In my attempts to be happy for their new found love, I had to deal with my jealousy and the loss of the connection as it had existed. For there was much joy, fun, comfort, and security in it. It took a bit to move past it and realize that there should be no downsides in the change. Eventually a slightly different relationship was created with my loved one. And, I even grew to love and appreciate their boo.

What I know about myself is that I love connection. It’s an aspect of being that I’ve desired since a child that’s oozed over to adulthood. And, especially connection where there is respect, love, fun, commonality, and reciprocity. So when I feel those important components of relationship are threatened, the ugly green monster may show itself. Because my then abandonment and self-worth issues shakes the sh*t out of my Ego. Which may fester into “WHAT? F*ck that…” That’s anger mood. Or the sadness mode of “Whoa is me. I’m so lonely.” But, in those moments, it’s for me to presence and know my worth. And, know that life moves and shakes. People change. Situations change. Remembering to not lose myself in relationships, especially romantic ones. Reposition myself. This could be by creating something anew in that relationship. Or it could be seeking another outlet or person where my desires can be met appropriately and who are seeking the same with reciprocity. “New moment. New opportunity.

”So the next time you feel envious or jealous, before you begin projecting (“You ain’t sh*t anyway.”), pause a moment. Take several breaths and center yourself. Presence yourself to the amazing person you are. Call in grace to avoid summoning the Tasmanian Devil in you. Tap into an outlet that is calming for you. Music. Taking a bath or a walk. Praying. Affirming yourself. Talking to a confidant you know can bring you off the ledge. And, if it’s a safe space, speak to the person you’re jealous of about your experience. Not in anger and blame. But, with vulnerability and honesty about how you feel. With the goal of understanding and removing your unhealthy ways of responding.

For, you may not have a great big Cadillac, diamond rings, a six to seven figure job, a significant other with the picket fence and 2.5 children, can travel the world, however you have YOU! And, there should be no shame in that. Also, remembering that someone elses riches may not truly be their gold. Not knowing how they received their perceived fortune and what they may be going through to keep it.

Who you are and what you have is what makes you YOU! Your walk is your walk. And, the Universe and all who love and care about you get to experience, respect, and honor you for your uniqueness and beauty. Being the same and having all the same things would make for a boring existence. Therefore, honor and appreciate YOUR “pure dopeness” and YOUR “gangsta lean”. 🎶Just be thankful for what you’ve got.🎶 Be grateful for you and your gifts. Knowing, believing, and having faith in that so much more is waiting just for YOU. Because after all you’re your own “diamond in the back”. Peace. Namaste. #BeDoLove #FindYourZen #BirthAndLiveYourSOULfullPurpose #HealingEqualsFreedom

Morning Pop Talk – He Scared

Man Pop dropped some serious “pay attention” science this morning.

Pop: Russia – He’s scared. He’s scared. He’s scared. He did something with Russia. And, he shouldn’t have run. Then he puts his son-in-law in place. What’s he know about the government? That was to keep him under his wing. And, he can pardon him later. Me: WOW!!! (Thinking I never thought of it that way.)

Pop: Hooker – And, then the hooker. Where did he get the money to pay her off? $130,000! If it was from the campaign money or a specific person donated that money…

Pop: Mueller – And, now it comes out he tried to fire him. That’s perjury. It will be fun when he meets Mueller. And, he’s going to have to meet him. Let’s see how fast Ty Cobb is then. (Now you have to follow that one. Let me help you out. Ty Cobb is his lawyer. And, Ty Cobb was a baseball player back in the day who was a six time American League stolen base leader. Get it? Get it?)

You heard it from Pop! See I told you he dropped some serious “pay attention” science.

And, as Pop always says, “Have a good day. Be safe. Don’t work too hard. Love!” Peace! #BeDoLove #MorningPopTalk

MLK’s Motivating Message of “What Is Your Life’s Blueprint?”

October 30, 2015, Pop was visiting me and requested to visit the Martin Luther King, Jr. National Memorial in DC. It was my first time visiting this moving and wonderfully crafted memorial. It was also nice to see Pop engaged and also moved as we walked and stood before the tall and bold statue and read the many profound and timely quotes.

As we acknowledge and celebrate Dr. King’s life, legacy and birthday today, with tremendous gratitude for all he was and continues to be, I wanted to share one of many of his motivating and inspiring speeches. Six months before he was assassinated, Dr. King spoke to a group of students at Barratt Junior High School in Philadelphia on October 26, 1967. It was 30 years ago, almost to the day that Pop and I visited the memorial. I encourage you to read the transcript below and/or see the video here. You can never hear too much of Dr. King’s mesmerizing and captivating voice and presence and his methodical delivery. https://youtu.be/ZmtOGXreTOU

This speech speaks of the importance of having self-worth, discovering and living your purpose, keeping your dreams to the forefront of living a purposeful life, perseverance, giving it your all to make it your best, and doing it all while moving and moving and moving with integrity and love. Keep on moving lovelies. There should be no shame in your game. Whatever is for YOU is for YOU! Speak power to it. Find joy in it. Live it. Breath it. Love it. Peace. Namaste. Oh, and Happy Birthday Dr. King! #BeDoLove #FindYourZen #BirthAndLiveYourSOULfullPurpose #HealingEqualsFreedom

What Is Your Life’s Blueprint?

I want to ask you a question, and that is: What is in your life’s blueprint?

This is the most important and crucial period of your lives, for what you do now and what you decide now, at this age may well determine which way your life shall go.

Whenever a building is constructed, you usually have an architect who draws a blueprint, and that blueprint serves as the pattern, as the guide, as the model for those who are to build the building. And, building is not well erected without a good, solid blueprint.

Now each of you is in the process of building the structure of your lives, and the question is whether you have a proper, a solid and a sound blueprint.

And, I want to suggest some of the things that should be in your life’s blueprint. Number one in your life’s blueprint, should be a deep belief in your own dignity, your own worth and your own somebodiness. Don’t allow anybody to make you feel that you are nobody. Always feel that you count. Always feel that you have worth, and always feel that your life has ultimate significance.

Now that means that you should not be ashamed of your color. You know it’s very unfortunate that it I’m so many instances, our society has placed a stigma on the Negros color. You know that some Negros who are ashamed of themselves. But, don’t be ashamed of your color. Don’t be ashamed of your biological features. Somehow you must be able to say in your own lives and really believe it, I am black but beautiful. And, believe it… And, therefore you need not be lured into purchasing cosmetics advertised to make you lighter. Neither do you need to process your hair to make it appear straight. I have good hair and it’s as good as anybody else’s hair in the world. And, we gotta believe that.

Now in your life’s blueprint be sure that you have that of a principle of somebodiness.
Secondly, in your life’s blueprint you must have as a basic principle the determination to achieve excellence in your various fields of endeavor. You’re going to be deciding as the days, as the years unfold what you will do in life — what your life’s work will be. And, once you discover what is will be, set out to do it and to do it well.

And I say to you, my young friends, that doors are opening to each of you. Doors of opportunities opening to each of you that were not open to your mothers and to your fathers. And, the great challenge facing you is to be ready to enter these doors as they open.

Ralph Waldo Emerson, the great essayist, said in a lecture back in 1871, that “If a man can write a better book or preach a better sermon or make a better mousetrap than his neighbor, even if he builds his house in the woods, the world will make a beaten path to his door.”

That hasn’t always been true — but it will become increasingly true, and so I would urge you to study hard, to burn the midnight oil; I would say to you, don’t drop out of school. And, I understand all the sociological reasons why we often drop out of school. But, I urge you in spite of your economic plight, in spite of the situation that you’re forced to live so often with intolerable conditions — stay in school.

And when you discover what you are gonna be in life, set out to do it as if God Almighty called you at this particular moment in history to do it. And, don’t just set out to do a good Negro job. But, do a good job that anybody could do. Don’t set out to just be a good Negro doctor or a good Negro lawyer, or a good Negro school teacher, a good Negro preacher. A good Negro barber or beautician. A good Negro skilled laborer. For if you set out to do that you have already flunked your matriculation exam for entrance into the university of integration. Set out to do a good job and do that job so well that the living, the dead or the unborn couldn’t do it any better.

If it falls your lot to be a street sweeper, sweep streets like Michelangelo painted pictures, sweep streets like Beethoven composed music, sweep streets like Leontyne Price sings before the Metropolitan Opera. Sweep streets like Shakespeare wrote poetry. Sweep streets so well that all the hosts of heaven and earth will have to pause and say: Here lived a great street sweeper who swept his job well. If you can’t be a pine on the top of the hill, be a shrub in the valley. But be the best little shrub on the side of the hill.

Be a bush if you can’t be a tree. If you can’t be a highway, just be a trail. If you can’t be the sun, be a star. For it isn’t by size that you win or fail. Be the best of whatever you are.

We already have some noble examples of Black men and Black women who demonstrated to us that human nature cannot be cataloged. They in their own lives have walked through long and desolate nights of oppression that yet they’ve risen up and plunged against cloud filled night of affliction. New and blazing stars of inspiration. And so from and old slave cabin of Virginia’s hills Booker T. Washington rose up of to be one of America’s great leaders. He lit a torch in Alabama and darkness fled in that setting. Yes, you should know this because it’s, in your own city. From a poverty stricken area of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Marian Anderson rose up to be the world’s greatest contralto so that a Tuscaniny can say that a voice like this comes only once in a century. And, Sibelius of Finland could say my roof is too low for such a voice. From the red hills of Gordon County, Georgia from the arms of a mother who could neither read nor write, Roland Hayes rose up to be one of the world’s great singers and carried his melodious voice into the palaces and mansions of kings and queens. From crippling circumstances there came a George Washington Carver to carve for himself an imperishable niche in the annals of science. There was a star in the diplomatic sky. And, then came Ralph Bunche, a grandson of a slave preacher. And, he reached up and grabbed it and allowed it to shine in his life with all of the scintillating beauty. There was a star in the athletic sky. Then came Jackie Robinson in his day and Willie Mayes in his day with their powerful bats and their calm spirits. Then came Jesse Owens with his fleeting dashing feet. Then came Joe Louis and Muhammed Ali with their educated fists. All of them came to tell us that we can be somebody. And, to justify the conviction of the port fleecing locks and black complexion cannot forfeit natures’ claim. Skin may differ, but affection dwells in black and white the same. And, if I were so tall as to reach the pole the grasp the ocean at a span I must be measured by my soul. The mind is a standard of the man.

Finally, in your life’s blueprint, must be a commitment to the eternal principles of beauty, love, and justice. Don’t allow anybody to pull you so low as to make you hate them. Don’t allow anybody to cause you to lose your self-respect to the point that you do not struggle for justice.

However young you are, you have a responsibility to seek to make your nation a better nation in which to live. You have a responsibility to seek to make life better for everybody. And, so you must be involved in the struggle for freedom and justice.

Now in this struggle for freedom and justice, there are many constructive things that we all can do. And, that we all must do. And, we must not give ourselves to those things which will not solve our problems.

You’ve heard the word nonviolent and you’ve heard the word violent. I happen to believe in nonviolence. We’ve struggled with this method with young people and adults alike. All over the south and we have won some significant victories. And, we gotta struggle with it all over the north. Because the problems are as serious in the north as they are in the south. But, I believe as we struggle with these problems we gotta struggle with them with a method that can be militant, but at the same time does not destroy life or property. And, so our slogan must not be burn baby burn, it must be build baby build. Organize baby organize. Yes, our slogan must be learn baby learn so that we can earn baby earn. And, with a powerful commitment I believe that we can transform dark days of injustice in to bright days of justice and humanity.

Let us keep going toward the goal of selfhood. Toward the realization of the dream of brotherhood. And, toward the realization of the dream of understanding, goodwill. Let nobody stop us.

I close by quoting once more the man that the young lady quoted. That magnificent black bar who has now passed on, Langston Hughes. One day he wrote a poem entitled “Mother to Son”. The mother didn’t always have her grammar right, but she uttered words of great symbolic profundity. Well, son I’ll tell you life for me ain’t been no crystal stair. It’s had tacks in it. Boards torn up. Places with no carpet on the floor, bare. But, alls the time I’s been a climbing on and reaching landings and turning corners and sometimes going into dark where there ain’t been no light. So boy, don’t you stop now. Don’t you sit down on the steps cause you finds it’s kind of hard. But I’s still going on boy. I’s still climbing. And, life for me ain’t been no crystal stair.

Well, life, for none of us, has been a crystal stair, but we must keep moving, we must keep going.

If you can’t fly, run. If you can’t run, walk. If you can’t walk, crawl, but by all means, keep moving.

You Are Worthy! When Ms. Viola Speaks! We Listen!

On the red carpet of The Golden Globe Awards Sunday night, Viola Davis (fierce with her afro) was interviewed. During that interview she said “We’re born being worthy.”

Hearing her say those four words was profound and so needed as we journey into a new year. Even for me in that moment to include co-singing with “YAAAAAASSSS GODDESS! Teach! Believe IT! Know IT! Breathe IT! Live IT!” However, it made me think about when I hear people say they are not worthy or deserving. Hearing that always baffles me. It’s as if they are saying the blessing(s)/gift(s) that I’ve received were not meant for me. Or I am not deserving of joy. Like “Why Me?” To that I say “Why not you?”

I understand the concept of being humble. I totally get that. It’s the self-loathing that’s concerning as it can be a form of sabotage. Being thankful and having gratitude is essential for acknowledging the blessing(s)/gift(s) from which it came from. It also allows us to be open and have the door revolve continuously with an abundance of love and purpose.

I also believe that what is for me is made just for me. And, to not confuse not worthy or deserving, with perhaps something or someone may not be for me. Because, for example, if you worked really hard to get a job and did everything (had the bomb resume and practiced for and had amazing interviews) you were supposed to do and you didn’t get that job. Perhaps it’s not because you weren’t worthy. Perhaps it wasn’t the job for you. And, you now have to presence yourself to be directed and guided elsewhere. That goes with anything else to include intimate relationships or even friendships.

Know and believe you are worthy. Know and believe you are deserving of the love, the job, the house, the business, the confidence, the fierceness, the fun, the children, and many of your wildest dreams. Those wildest dreams are embedded in your mind and spirit for a reason. If it’s your purpose and destiny, when it happens, you will truly feel it’s SoulFULL foundation. If it’s not for you or the expiration date has reached, you’ll be required to listen intently to your spirit. Taking your temperature and listening for the 🎶Joooyyyandpaaaainnn🎶. And, ultimately knowing you are worthy of the joy.

Allow IT that which you are worthy of with an open door to make its way to you with ease. The worthiness in which God has purposed you here right now at this time will manifest itself with your and only your purposeful walk. That same walk of “I am worthy of this fierce afro” Viola rocked. Lighten up lovelies. Breathe, listen, and believe! For our time is NOW! Wishing you peace, healing, clarity, purpose, fun, silliness, fierceness, and joy in 2018 and beyond. Peace. Namaste. #BeDoLove #FindYourZen #BirthAndLiveYourSOULfullPurpose #HealingEqualsFreedom

Let it Go! Set it Free! Set it Free!

Wrote a poem. Wanna hear it. Here it go. “Now keep in mind that I’m an artist and I’m sensitive about my shit.” —Erykah Badu

Sometimes we got to let it go.  Let it go and purge.

Let Go of all those things, yes all of those things.  The clothes, the old letters, the stuffed animals, the boxes full of past treasures that we have collected throughout our life that now hold no true meaning.  And, that now present huge baggage that is weighing us down like quicksand we’ve accidentally found ourselves in the middle of as we run through the forest as if we are suddenly caught in the middle of a B grade horror movie.  SCREAM!!!  Watching ourselves slowly fading out of sight that we can’t even breathe or even see what is truly meant to be.  Things can be beautiful and tell a million stories of past times that have shaped us extensively. But, now they are just memories.  Just history taking up space that we really need in order to breathe.  Get rid of that stuff.  Set it Free!  Now grab my hand so I can pull you up into the fresh air of a new day that was created just for you so you may Be Free!

Let Go of all those people that we hold onto so tight with a Kung FO grip that we deem to be so valuable to our life yet so destructive and detrimental to our soul.  Our soul that is begging to expand and grow like a beautiful blooming flower, yet we hold it hostage and control it because of our fear to just Let Go as we welt away never to grow.  Yeah, we get to still love those children of God through and through, who in some way or another has added color and growth to our life—which we knew.  But, sometimes it is best to love at a far so that we may draw nearer to that real bright star that we can’t catch because our hands aren’t free.  Free to draw the person(s) closer to you who are anxiously waiting in line for you to open the door and ask them to come in.  Come into your heart!  Come into your soul!  Come enter your spirit so that together you may soar and grow and experience your destiny, whatever that may be.  Divine Order!  Set it Free!  Be Free!

Hurry before it’s too late.  Too late for the chance for new opportunities that can only be created when we open a space to have it enter and positively fill our soul and revive the spirit that has been begging to be saved from you.  Are you blocking the blessing?  Let It Go.  Release the grip, please.  It’s okay. For real you’ll see.  Set it free so that you may be free to be.  Free to BeDoLove!  kcb

I was looking through some past writings/poems of mine and found this.  I wrote it back on February 10, 2010 at 1:30am.  I wonder what I was going through at that time.  But, I thought it quite appropriate to share as we enter the new year and we give way to new beginnings. Namaste. ONWARD! #BeDoLove #FindYourZen #BirthAndLiveYourSOULfullPurpose #HealingEqualsFreedom

The Relevant Teachings of “The Twilight Zone” As We Move Into 2018

I’m believing more and more that God sent our angel of truth Rod Serling as a profound messenger of our doom if we don’t get our moral compasses in check. That we as human beings indeed aren’t the only ones residing in this Universe. And, we will be conquered as we’ve already been conquering each other. I am convinced Serling was channeled through to deliver important messages and crystal ball moments of art imitating life. Talk about being obedient to one’s soul induced calling. Thank you Serling for being present to your gifts and being unafraid of being diagnosed with a huge case of the weirdos. Thank you for being a muse for me and all writers with inspiring to live, breathe, and bring to life the imagination of our SoulFULL Purpose.

I live each year for “The Twilight Zone” marathons, usually falling around New Years Eve (now on SyFy until Tuesday morning) and the 4th of July. The Definitive Collection is on my wish list (hint hint), especially since I hear the episodes airing on television are not all in their entirety due to making room for those pesky commercials. Sure the psychological thrillers are quite bizarre, quirky, and frightening yet entertaining, which makes the beauty of these touched by an amazingness collection of unexpected twists works of arts. However, there are two lessons of life, this series that came about in the ’60s teaches us even as we go into 2018. 1. Many of the episodes focus on a moral code. This based on how to treat people. How to respect and love one another. 2. That we better get our heads right as our world continues to experience catastrophic shifts in its structure and existence.

The serendipitous beauty is when I awaken with joy during the marathon at the uncovering of an episode I’ve yet to see. I woke this morning with my first episode being a new one for me. It was “A Piano in the House”. It’s about a sadistic and hated theater critic Fitzgerald Fortune, who buys a player piano that has the power to reveal the souls and innermost thoughts of all who hear it. He spoke profoundly about the “hidden faces” we all have. I also call it when we send “our representative” out. This is by hiding the vulnerabilities of our true character for fear of being anything but in control and in power. As it was revealed that Fitzgerald married his wife not for love, but to bully and humiliate her. Finding out later that he feared and envied people as he operated from the hurt little boy of his past. A painful and hurtful way that many operate not only damaging self, but also the spirits of those we claim we love. Another new one I just saw is “The Mirror”. It’s about a leader whose a tyrant. Yeah! Reality as we live and breathe today.

Rod Serling is a genius with his creation and writing of the majority of the series. And, being easy on the eyes, with his almost clenched mouth narrative delivery is purposeful and perfect. He was a young 50 years old when he transitioned in 1975. To think he was 35-40 years of age when he was the writer and narrator for “The Twilight Zone”. It is noted that “Serling was active in politics, both on and off the screen, and helped form television industry standards. He was known as the “angry young man” of Hollywood, clashing with television executives and sponsors over a wide range of issues, including censorship, racism, and war.” –Wikipedia. Check out this cool Serling Interview. http://youtu.be/q8sT6nz7VUM

Two other profound episodes I love and can also be seen on Hulu or YouTube:

“The Monsters Are Due on Maple Street” In 2009, Time named it one of the 10 best Twilight Zone episodes. It showed how easily, when in a panic, we can turn on each other rather than support and ban together. The aliens saw this and created paranoia and panic by turning off the electricity, and concluded that the easiest way to conquer the planet is to let the people become their own worst enemies as they turned on each other. They also discussed the fact that the Earth is “full of Maple Streets” and the aliens plan to move from one to the next creating havoc and destruction.

“The Midnight Sun” is how the Earth falls off its orbit and starts moving closer to the sun. In Serling’s opening narration he says “And all of man’s little devices to stir up the air are now no longer luxuries – they happen to be pitiful and panicky keys to survival.” Ending with the closing narrative of “The poles of fear, the extremes of how the Earth might conceivably be doomed. Minor exercise in the care and feeding of a nightmare, respectfully submitted by all the thermometer-watchers in the Twilight Zone.” In this episode, there is no more nighttime, people are fleeing NYC to Canada, and it’s the hottest day EVER! And, while seemingly all a dream, later in the episode the earth has changed its orbit and now there is no more sun, it’s snowing, people are fleeing to Miami and they are pending a freeze out. HELLO!!! GLOBAL WARMING!!! HELLO!!! You see the similarities. This was also captured in the episode “Third From the Sun”. Imagine seeing both of these doomed filled episodes back to back. Even Serling was in touch with the Earth’s pending doom if we don’t heed the signs. Floodings, earthquakes, tsunamis, ice melting in the coldest corners of the earth, losing track of our seasons. Global warming is real.

Mood shift! What’s so cool to see is celebrities (we’ve known and loved, young, handsome, and beautiful). Although I always feel for William Shatner when he’s being terrorized by the pug nosed monster on the wing of the plane on “Nightmare at 20,000 Feet”. He really should have taken that sedative. And, when Talky Tiny went gangsta and pushed Telly Savalas down the stairs… DAYUM Kojak! Other actors like Burt Reynolds, Robert Duvall, and Robert Redford looking like he was no more than 20.

Yet, even with all 156 (Serling wrote 92 of them.) episodes which were created from 1959-1964, (Real talk alert) I’m reminded that Black representation is extremely rare. And, on the rare occasion when a Black actor pops up on the screen, it’s a “OOOHHH! AAAHHH!” treat. Although I read that Rod Serling was a champion for diversity and wanted to include Black actors more. But not surprising that the network powers that be at CBS would control Mr. Serling in this regard. “I Am the Night-Color Me Black” is about one morning where a man is about to hang for the killing of one of his bigoted neighbors. And, the townspeople find themselves thrown into an unending night.

Well, whether you’re a fan or not of TZ, my prayer is that as we move into 2018 we can all LIVE coming from a space of who we truly are and not from what we want others to see or perceive ourselves to be. Succumbing and LIVING our truths and purpose. Operating with love, compassion, and respect. Understanding that the healing of past wounds is important to reviving a loving and exuberant spirit. This all includes me with being courageous and risking in living a transparent, authentic, and loving life. With the importance of cultivating safe spaces for a pure and wonderful existence, whether with those I create for myself and others to BE! DO! LOVE! Wishing you all and me peace, clarity, love, and joy in 2018 and beyond. Namaste! ONWARD! #BeDoLove #FindYourZen #BirthAndLiveYourSOULfullPurpose #HealingEqualsFreedom #SuperSoulSunday #SupportTheArts #TheTwilightZone

Silence the Noise for You are Wonderfully Made – Swaggalicous Alert

This weekend I had what I call a Mahogany fierce moment. I’ve always wanted a hawt hat similar to what Diana Ross wore in the movie “Mahogany.” I finally purchased one recently at a holiday pop-up shop. This picture man is a “falling in love with myself and life all over again” moment for me. And, I can NEVA have too many of these moments. Can you dig it? 🎶Do you know where you’re going to? Do you like the things that life is showing you? Where are going to? Do you know?🎶

Even as beautiful, talented, successful, and fierce Diana Ross’ character Tracy was in “Mahogany”, she was flawed. Lost in the confusion of who she thought she should be. Who others (Billy Dee, community, and fashion industry) thought she should be. Versus who she was really put on this earth to be. 🎶Do you get what you’re hoping for? When you look behind you there’s no open door. What are you hoping for? Do you know?🎶

So many questions. And, sometimes not the right answers. Let’s face it, we struggle as we search. One moment you’re full of joy, passion, and excitement. On top of the world as a result of one amazing accomplishment after another. Degrees. Homeownership. Career success. Amazing friendships. Rising out of poverty. Marriage. Children. Travel. Checking one bucket list item off after another. Wishing we can ride the wave of euphoria. Forever and ever. AMEN!

However, life has a way of happening as “the noise” makes its way in, serving a heavy dose of distraction. Overshadowing the beauty of who we are. Who we were put here to BE! Think about the Anthony Perkins character in the movie when Tracey wasn’t responding to him and his ego was bruised followed with him speaking to and treating her badly. Similar to this, messages can be received from those who speak in terms of “You can’t.” “You aren’t.” “You won’t.” The judgements. The gaslighting. Passive aggressive behavior. The unconscious yet conscious underhanded sly, sarcastic, snarky, making someone the butt of your jokes while thinking you’re being cute or funny, while really cutting like a knife into one’s spirit. Where ego wins over humanity and love. Resulting in creating feelings of unworthiness. Or worst. They can come from self. This being as a result of buying into the painful noise and messages from our birth to adulthood, from those who are in pain. 🎶Now looking back at all we’ve planned. We let so many dreams just slip through our hands. Why must we wait so long before we’ll see? How sad the answers to those questions can be.🎶

We as humans have moments in our lives when at any unsuspecting gut blow moment can become a low time here on this earth. Where you’re wondering “How did I get here?” “This is so fucked up.” Trust, I’ve had my share. Those moments that can render me with breath yet lifeless. As the doom and gloom is real and debilitating. But, what I know is that ownership and holding myself responsible and accountable for my life is essential. Accountable for where I am at any given moment. For my feelings of worthiness. For my self-love and self-care. For if it’s to be, it’s up to me to move with courage, strength, HEALING, spirituality, inner-knowing, clarity, vulnerability, love, and decisiveness. And, not the unloving noise of what one may think of me or I think of myself. But, figuring out my paths (for there are many) and not beating myself up when the hiccups or self-sabotaging Grand Canyon like boulders block my way. The key is appreciating and loving you for wherever you are in this moment.

To me/you I say don’t let the noise dim my/your purposeful light. Don’t let the noise have you lose your excitement and zest for YOU and who you were placed here at this very moment to be.
When I presence myself, I create confidence building moments. Like funking it up with a sexy ass outfit or allowing spirit to guide me through writing. Or when I wake to the dawning of a new day, as I’m grabbing my toothbrush, I look up in the mirror in all of my sleepy disheveled rawness and say “thank you.” And, “I love you.” Choosing to drown out the noise. Speaking not only to me, but also speaking to God in gratitude for waking me to live and breathe another day. To be a gift, another day. Grateful for a do over opportunity, knowing it’s never too late, but understanding life is indeed short. A “new moment, new opportunity” moment.

To you I say, we are all imperfect yet perfect beings. Where giving up with wallowing in the pain with shame and blame is not the prelude to your final credits. For when you silence the noise and create your own confidence builder moments, none too big or small, you’ll be able to hear and be led to what is true for you. For we need YOU! You needs YOU! Your work is not done here. Because, deep down in your soul you know where you’re going to. That space and place where you and your SoulFULL Purpose get to evolve and shine.

The road to glory may or may not be perfectly mapped out. But, the key is to pause and be purposeful in drowning out the noise. And, seeking love and guidance from God, your angels, self, and empathic unions that I also call our loving cheerleaders. Knowing that it is not about how you started, but how you finish with honor, growth, respect, success, understanding, humility, compassion, patience, integrity, healing, grace, love, joy, fun, and FREEDOM! And, just like Tracy, evolving one step at a time. One moment at a time. One day at a time. One sunrise to sunset at a time to true love of self, others, and life. You know where you’re going to. It’s time to Believe IT, Be IT, Do IT, and Love IT and YOU! We got this. ONWARD! “Dasher! Dancer! Prancer…” Namaste. #BeDoLove #FindYourZen #BirthAndLiveYourSOULfullPurpose #HealingEqualsFreedom #SuperSoulSunday #SwaggaliciousAlert

PS: But, for real. How could Diana not take her tail back to Chi-town? Cause can’t nobody deliver a line and rock a turtleneck in the sexy and suave way that Billy Dee can. Nobody! “Let me tell you something, and don’t you ever forget it. Success is nothing without someone you love to share it with! If you ever become Tracy James again, you’ll know where I’ll be.” (Sigh)

Rise and Shine My Lovelies! It’s Your Time!

After an amazing and beaming super moon last night, we rose today to a gorgeous sunrise. So grateful for rising to the beauty of another day and sunrise. I am alive. You are alive. I am breathing. You are breathing. We get a do over today to be different and do different. It being a “New moment. New opportunity.” We get to forgive and give. We get to love and live. We get to BeDoLove.

Whatever you’re going through at this moment always know you are love and loved. You are enough. And, keep the faith, knowing it’s never too late. That as long as you are breathing your wildest dreams to your purposeful life can come true and catapult you to a loving and joyous life.

Today and always take time to pause, breathe, exhale and listen to where you are being guided. Truly your steps will be divinely ordered. But you must have the courage to also move and take action. You have it in you. You are all powerful. You are enough.

Rise and shine. We need you. You need you. Someone(s) are waiting to be blessed by your presence and gifts. Your family, friends, lovers, colleagues, and those seen and unseen await YOU! Please and thank you.

You are enough, Kathryn Charmaine Boxill. You are enough my lovelies. BELIEVE! I love YOU! May peace, compassion, strength, perseverance, grace, and joy be with you now and always. Rise and shine! Rise and shine! Rise and shine! ONWARD! Namaste! #BeDoLove #FindYourZen #BirthAndLiveYourSOULfullPurpose
