Adventures of a HAWT Caregiver & Dope Pop – Liverwurst Anyone?

Pop: (a few weeks ago random) I want a liverwurst sandwich on pumpernickel with Muenster cheese, tomato, and mayonnaise.

🥪

Me: 😳🤔

🥪

Any other caregivers receiving interesting requests? I was most perplexed about the Muenster cheese. Pop says it helps to cut the taste of the liverwurst. I think it also helps to cut the taste of the pumpernickel.

After some recommendations and an okay find (see below), I took matters into my own hands by tapping into my cheffing skills. Found some really good liverwurst at the Amish Market in Annapolis. Pop was impressed with the liverwurst and my sandwich skills. He gave the thumbs up. At first I wasn’t going to have a sandwich (especially since I’m not a fan of pumpernickel) but I tasted his and couldn’t resist. It was delish. Forgive me. I’ll return soon to tell the brand. Let’s me truly know all liverwurst is not made equal.

Why do I say that? After at first calling a couple of my go to delis (Deli City Restaurant on Bladensburg Road in DC and Parkway Deli in Sliver Spring, MD) and receiving help from my Facebook friends (WOW! I was surprised at how many folks love liverwurst.), I found New York City Deli in College Park that carried liverwurst. Pop said the sandwich was good. After tasting theirs and the Amish Market (far better) liverwurst, they don’t compare in taste and texture.

Still want to get to Binkert’s which has “the best in German meats.” Thanks Tim. https://www.binkerts.com/ And, Chutzpah Deli, which is a Jewish NYC in Fairfax. Thanks Angel. https://chutzpahdeli.com/after-breakfast. Enjoy! #CaregiversMatter #Yummyliciousness #Liverwurst #IChefToWriteAboutIt #AmishMarket #IPrayToEatFoodILove
